I will be 51 years old when I witness the end of the earth. Or at least when I have a 1-300 chance of watching it happen.

Five Things I Love About a Minnesota Spring
1.)It is spring in Minnesota. It has this feeling like you survived some kind of natural disaster. Like you are walking out of this catastrophe and all of a sudden there is color and heat.
2.)Twins Games…OUTSIDE. P.S Anyone who doesn’t live or shop in Hennepin County but still enjoys seeing them play outside. No money is necessary but thank you’s are always appreciated as would be your vote on making a Vikings stadium partially funded by the State in a manner that is fair to all people in Minnesota.
3.) The return of the skirt
4.) Not having to carry a coat
5.) Opening day of the Patio and grill

The Body
A little defense for Jesse the body. I personally think he is right.
How are searches at the airport not a violation of a person’s individual rights? Specifically the 4th amendment.
If you take the logic of the TSA it is probable cause because a small amount of people will break the rule then you should be able to search entire neighborhoods because there are bound to be a small percentage of people breaking the law.
People are bashing him because of the reason he is bringing the case but he framed it this way intentionally to make it personal but still expose the larger question.

Brian in Mpls: I wonder how many smokers are going to die out here in the cold from stuff like phenomena.
Person in mpls: It is your choice to smoke
Brian in Mpls: You mean like it was your choice to go to a smoke bar that you whined about that puts me out here in the first place.

Remembering to Save the World
Last night I was laying in bed and a thought popped into my head. I remember thinking to myself this is the greatest idea of all time I should get some paper and write this down. Well the house was a little chilly and since this idea was the greatest idea of all time there is no way I can forget it.
I woke up and remembered I had the greatest idea of all time but for the life of me I can’t remember what it was…
One more chance to save the world disappears in the archive of the abyss

Saw the Social Network - I have no clue why the fuck everyone thinks this is such a landmark film.
Writing another book, business book this time. It has been occupying a large chunk of my free time but has been a good release and where most of my writing effort has been diverted to.
Been researching E-Cigerettes and think I am getting ready to make the switch. The two things I hate about smoking seem to be solved here. I want to breathe better and smell better. If anyone has made the switch or is using these I would love to hear about it from you.

Assumptions
For years every morning I would go 3 blocks out of my way on my way to work. I did this because I learned that taking a left turn on to this busy street was easier to do at a stop light where you could turn on yellow then waiting for 8 minutes for an opening to turn.
Then about 8 months ago the traffic patterns changed for the freeway entrance by my house. They closed an on ramp and traffic decreased immensely.
I know this change happened.
I have been told by loved ones that it is now safe to go back to the old route.
I know that the way I am going it now is the inefficient way and it takes longer.
I would like to think of myself as someone who constantly challenges assumptions I have, but I find myself still often taking the old route without thinking, or realizing that if I think about it in the morning it takes a lot of effort to change my habit and go the new route.
It is a small thing but I sit here and wonder what else am I doing that I am just doing because I have always done it? I think it is time for opposite day

Mentally Ill
There is an article in Time magazine this morning asking why are the mentally ill allowed to arm?
http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,2041448,00.html?hpt=T2
One I think there needs to be a line of caution since mentally ill in the terms of the article could have lots of implications.
Point One: Just because someone has different political views then the established majority does not make them mentally ill.
Point Two: People who hear voices, believe in things that aren’t real aren’t mentally ill most of them are just religious followers.
While I agree that this guy is probably a whack job I think it is an important distinction that being mentally ill is a biological concept not a concept of ideology. People who are mentally ill have chemical imbalances, distorted neurological processes etc. Just because you believe in something outlandish doesn't mean you are mentally ill.
I would like to say I am in no way of support of the act that was committed in Arizona. I think it is deplorable. I know it will have the opposite effect intended by the suspect. The power of the child pointing at the emperor and calling him naked didn’t come from a gun. It wasn’t forcing the person to comply through violence and intimidation. The power of a question has so much more velocity then a bullet.

If you do this you have to ban all aspects of history. European, African, Asian seriously let it go, studying the contrast of other cultures does wonders for your own perspective open your mind and set you economy free.

Live by the Rules Die by the Rules
I was actually sickened reading the news paper article about the Wisconsin Archdiocese seeking to protect the church from collapse under the weight of civil suits from all of lawsuits that have to be settled from children who have been molested.
1.) The church should be prosecuted under the RICO Act just like any other criminal enterprise.
a. If this was a countrywide gang where 5% of the gang was suspected in participating in a criminal act of child abuse or covering it up all assets of the gang members would be forfeited and people would be in jail this should be no different.
2.) If you want the same protections as a business or individual under the law you must be treated like a business or individual under the law.
a. Pay taxes
b. Subject your product claims to an independent third party for verification
c. Pay taxes
d. Subject your product claims to an independent third party for verification
To be honest it makes me sick

Sign Of the Times
I can remember when I was in school way back in the day. We would do tornado drills and everyone would file out of class and go to the gym or hall and kneel down and cover their head. Nowadays companies and schools have crazy gun man drills and practice what to do if a disgruntled classmate or co-worker walks through the door and starts shooting.

Hunting Roe
I find it interesting that almost every argument that conservatives lobby as reasons for pro-hunting could be the exact same reasons they should also be pro-abortion or at the very least pro-contraceptive.
Why Hunt? – Population control, sustainability, to avoid overcrowding and the spread of disease, teaches respect for life, connects you to the circle of life etc.
Some interesting articles to just check out and think about when you hear sexy Sarah, the Tea Party or any right wing organization talking out of one side of their mouth for Hunting Rights and the other for abortion.

http://www.kalahari-trophy-hunting.com/reasons-for-hunting.html
But then I digress they don’t believe in evolution and fail to recognize that we are all just animals…
