Radio's Relationship to My Stars

I have this terrible habit of clicking through radio stations like mad when I am driving. I tend to get almost paranoid that I am listening to one song while a much better one is playing on another station.

To the point that I sat down and wrote requirements and pseudo code to send to XM radio so that my display screen would show what is playing on my top five stations so I could see my choices without interrupting what I am listening too.

Somewhere around page 8 of writing my BRS I realized that my sickness with the radio is my primary problem with women.

I tend to like songs not stations but songs are over in five minutes.

I tend to like several genres.

I have a sneaking suspicion that something better is going on somewhere other then where I am even to determent of the song or relationships.

So you do you resolve the dilemma between the long term and the short term without settling? Or fragmenting both?

I can code my radio but how do you code your brain?

You should check out Pandora music online.

But. You cannot code your brain, since there is no way you'll be omnipotent (even on your best day). Plus there are limited choices on the radio--not so in life.

I like all of the genres too, and have been plagued with the choices--I am the type of person that likes Pavorotti ice cream one day, mint-chip the next, and vanilla swiss almond another. I'm this way about men, too. And that doesn't go away. The key is finding someone that is also like that, so that you're not forced to pick a genre--it keeps things interesting because you never expect what they're going to do next. :)

Well I feel bad for you... Even crappy songs are worth listening to, till the end.

Maybe I'm just lazy but I don't like to change the channels that much.

I am so with you on the music!! I change the song right before it reaches the end because I'm SURE there is going to be a better on coming on another station. As for the women thing - I can't help you out on that one... but I will say that many women, just like many songs are a good thing! At least in my opinion ;)

That is a great idea, I may even listen to the radio if I had a display like that. Right now I never listen to the radio, it's the IPOD all the time.

I wish I could code my brain. I remember things in the short term but long term memory? I'm fucked.

you just need a woman with a large whip - someone who will make you stay put.... with her around you'll know the pain of attempted escape will far outweigh the possibility of greatness elsewhere

HAHA

and start using your iPod - forget the radio... with iPod you know everything that will come up will bring you enjoyment because you picked it yourself - all you need is a little patience for what's coming up

you could spend your incoming book royalties on a new iPod.

Positive reinforcement. It's the way of the future.

I like my local station and I rarely switch...unless a Guns n Roses song comes on (it's a Philly thing) then I'll switch to the AM station to catch the weather.

You have Grass is Greener on the brain. The only cure is the love of a good woman then the mistreatment of you from a bad one then the best treatment from the original.

Have you read The Ethical Slut? It is possible to have a primary partner who understands that experiencing different "stations" is just another way to enhance love and life. It's another way of looking at it, anyway.

Oh, and don't forget the wonder of audiobooks! Can't stay with a song? Stay with a story!
