I believe if you advertise ice-cold beer, that the temp. of the beer should be south of 32 degrees Fahrenheit or below 0 degrees Celsius. I do not think that is too much to ask. There is nothing wrong with saying cold beer, but ice cold implies a specific temp.
This news was lost on the liquor store attendedent this weekend when I notified him that he should take down his deceptive advertising campaign since I could obviously see that the temp. control was set at 44 degrees which is not ice cold.
He said that the beer was cooled with ice so it was not deceptive advertising….but then that would be ice chilled beer not ice cold beer.
This is probably why I do not have many friends…

What I hate are those bars that keep the glasses in the freezer and when you get your beer there are icicles in it. When this happens, you are seperating the water and alcohol in the beer, thus ruining it's original makeup. I hate that.
I have to agree with you whole-heartedly here. (Of course I also have few friends...)

I would argue that because beer has quite a bit of particulate matter, water probably freezes faster than beer does, so beer can, in fact, be ice cold without being ice. Though it would be probably pretty close to right before it becomes so.
Just sayin'...
