The Parable of the Rut

A man was driving to visit his friend
As he approached his friends house he began to hear a wail
The closer he got the louder the wail became
As he stepped out of his car he noticed his friends dog lying in the entry way to the house
The dog was howling and wailing in pain
The door was open so he walked into the house
He saw his friend sitting on the couch watching TV
"Dude what's wrong with your dog?"
"Oh he is laying on a nail that is sticking up in the entry way"
"Why doesn't he move?"
"Cause it doesn't hurt enough."
