I don't deal with stress particularly well. Mind you I don't freak out or lose it but I tend to cope with it in self destructive ways. For example drinking a jumbo of vodka on a Tuesday night or smoking a whole pack of cigarettes in an hour. Just like this can be a downward spiral drink too much spend to much money get depressed drink more I am hoping that the positive steps I have been taking will start it all spinning the other way.
Positive things that help me relieve stress
- Walking the dog
- Reading a book
- Watching the Twins
- Giving\Getting Backrubs
- Cleaning
- Hugs
- Working out
- Taking care of business
I need to curtail the current level of drinking and quit smoking it is a no brainier, but why is it so hard? Why am I scared to let go of a blanket that smothering me to death?
I have so much to look forward to in life why do I have such a hard time embracing it and instead worry constantly that it is all going to be taken away?
I think I am going to take the month of July and just work on spinning momentum the other direction.

Things I have learned this week.
- Beer is not that bad
- You can't lose what you don't have on the table
- Invest in little things that make money and eventually you will be able to invest in big things that make more money.
- Life revolves around retroprcoity.
- I haven't been very good at retroprocity latley.
- Saying your not and asshole, bitch or mean is just a passive aggressive way to be an asshole, bitch and mean and con your self into feeling ok about it.
- Even with a few set backs here and there my life is moving in the right direction and there is peace in that.
- I have some support from some truly amazing people.
- There is something truly rewarding in a long walk.
- Facebook is life support for a lot of relationships that should have died a long time ago. - Thanks Far ;)
- If you cut too many corners you end up with a circle - Thanks Sornie;)
- When doing business with a religious son of a bitch get it in writing, Their word isn't worth shit not with the good lord telling how to fuck you on the deal. - Thanks William;)
- Thank you cards can go a long way.
- I know whose hand I want to hold for the rest of my life.
- Not fighting nice can lead to short term gain but long term harm

In the Flesh
And your very flesh shall be a great poem.
Walt Whitman
I thought about this while looking in the mirror this morning at my prematurely grey hair, receding hair line expanding and contracting mid section.
The hardened scars on my knuckles and hands.
My sturdy legs that hold me upright regardless of what is being consumed or raining down on me.
A bumblebee tattoo running down the length of my forearm.
Knees shot with ACL injuries.
Calloused feet.
Dark bloodhot eyes yearing for another hour of sleep.
Teeth darkened with coffee and cigarette stains.
Eyes that still sparkle with curiosity.
Imagination that refuses to tire.
I am not sure it is a great poem but it is my poem and despite the wear it makes me smile.

Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night
Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Dark Colors Attract Heat
I had a door to door salesman come by yesterday asking if I would like to reduce my heating costs by purchasing darker color shingles, since darker colors attract and retain more heat.
As I slammed my door shut I thought about that for a second....by that logic shouldn't evolution have evolved lighter skinned people around the equator and darker skinned people around the poles?

All In
I am all in. I don't really have a choice. Wish I was sitting with a better hand then a deuce, eight off suited but I guess that is life. Now I am just waiting for the flop and if you are a player of the odds like I am you know that is going to take a small miracle.

Animal Instincts
Is it possible other animals have fetishes?
My dog really likes feathers and to lick my butt while I am sitting on the toliet.
I wonder if fetish and exploration is just a part of our DNA and we are somehow taught to look down on it and walk away from it.

Private Eyes
Since everybody now has a voice recorder, video and still camera in their pockets of all of the time I wonder if the current recession is cause by people getting blackmailed out of their discretionary income?
We worry constantly about the government spying on us, putting us under surveillance but we rarely think about the people next door doing the same thing and if you met my neighbors you might find the later more disturbing.

Modern Man
I wonder who the first person was in the course of human evolution to teach their dog to play dead.
I wonder how the crowd reacted?
Did they applaud?
Spear the guy to death?
I am assuming this cute little move was a sign that we had grown docile as a species.

Maximum Wage
I am glad that there is no maximum wage I am not sure I would want to be part of a society that caps the potential of people to create.
But we put a floor on it and I am not sure that is such a good thing...

Picked Clean
I wonder if there is a products for humans that acts like front line for humans? Something that keeps the blood sucking parasites off of you. You would think the human version of frontline would be lawyers but if you look closer they are just the vultures that pick over your bones when the bloodsuckers have taken all they wanted.

Reach Your Quota
I happen to believe one of the dumbest things you can do in life is get into a car and not use your seat belt. With that said if you want to be stupid go ahead. We have enacted a new ban to help cops raise revenue for the city and increase the amount of people they can pull over and search. They now have the right just to stop you if you do not have your seat belt on.
But then the armchair expert in me starts working and I think shoot why not just pull over a city bus and give out 50 tickets instead of stopping 50 cars? That school bus looks like a juicy stop...maybe the light rail? Wait none of them has to wear seat belts?
Oh well back to profiling...

Piece of Paper
Some problems with the peddle pub....don't get me wrong wrong I love the peddle pub. The problem I have is that I can get a DUI on my bike. The difference here is there is a sober bike steerer, but I can get an open container and a DUI if people in my car are drinking in the car, even if I am a sober. So really it comes down to the government granting a piece of paper for a chauffeur licence that says you have the right to move at faster then a walk pace if people are drinking with you even if you are not.
Does this chauffeur driving driving school teach people how clean up puke? Wrestle a drunk to the ground? What makes this piece of paper so valuable? How does this certify that your driving around drunk people is better then me doing the same?

Invention #98765 - Disposable Razors for Manual Mowers
The idea was that I would create a disposable blade for mowers like the ones below so you don't have to sharpen the blades you would simply buy a new cartridge and we would recycle the old one.
Was actually laughed out of Toro...as I was pitching this idea. Maybe I will have more luck pitching it to Gillette.

Weekend ReCap
Friday
Pay bills aka swore a lot
Got a hair cut
Waited in line at the post office for an hour to mail my final portfolio in for graduation :) Yeah:) Next weekend I have decided to walk for school:)
Grocery shopping - this has become one of my favorite events, it is a consummate challenge to see how far I can stretch my grocery budget. Go Rainbow 10 for 10
Watched: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - It was just ok I was expecting it to be a lot better. I dug the message but it was just too long in all the wrong parts.. I am going to really miss getting free movies when you quit my brother:)
Saturday
Read the fist half of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Sven Larrson ...so far so good
Washed my car in the drive way. I think that is the official start of summer for me, although as much I as I tried to clean the inside there is still the faint aroma of wet dog...
Replanted some flowers and bushes around the yard.
Went to Harry's, Refuge, Ugly Mug for KW birthday:) Had a blast thanks for taking care of me everybody one day I am going to settle up and repay all of the love and kindness.
Sunday
Champs, Boggies, Grilled some pizza?
Watched the Twins and Rays - in my opinion two of the best teams in baseball. I love fundamental teams that play good small ball and I especially like to watch them play each other. I am not sure if there is a better summer time activity then sitting around watching the Twins.
Felt like I was dying I was so tired but a good kind tired:)
