Raptured

Children. Apparently during the rapture are all sent up to heaven to be with god, apparently because of their innocence. This poses several problems for me.

1.) It violates the fundamental tenement of Christianity stating that only those people who believe and accept Jesus are going to be saved. Children obviously don't have the capacity to make such a decision...so does the inability to have the capacity to make a decision to accept Christ negate damnation? What equals this incapacity? Does never hearing of Jesus equal the incapacity of making that decision? Does being human? Is admitting our incapacity enough? Is agnosticism really the pathway to heaven?

2.) Children are really not that nice (Read innocent). As soon as they know a dirty word i.e poop they do not seem to hesitate to call another child a "poopie head" even though they know it is wrong. Children are mean....ever remember being teased as a child? I have blocked most of it but I remember enough to know that children are not that innocent. They break stuff on purpose, throw mud pies, tease people who are different then them, they are selfish and whiny little shits....far from the idealization we hold of them.

So I hope that I am right and there is no god because I think hell might be filled with little kids.

If not the alternative is scary. An old man with a beard who makes adults jump through hoops to get into his house and even then only admits a few, but lets everybody's kids in no matter what.....We keep an eye on people like that in my neighborhood....

oh no anonymous is after you, but I must admit that to one who "beleives" you do seem to come off a bit harshly here ... I can see where you're coming from here with the whole kid thing, and can epecially relate to your thoughts of their being mean, selfish whiny little shits at times. Raising a 4 year old leads to many of these feelings.... but I do have to disagree with you on one main point. I think that children are more pure than us - and their innocence and the fact that they seem to do so many things "on purpose" just goes to show you that. They are new to this world and it's rules and it is their job to grow and learn what is appropriate and acceptable. All children start out in the world believing that they are the only real thing and that all things revolve around them - it is only through time and many repeated lessons that they are able to grasp that the world is actually bigger than their own small thoughts, feelings and dreams. I really think that if all children in this world are given the same amount of love, patience and understanding that we could have ourselves a bit of heaven right here on earth - whatever that means. Even though the little ones may seem mean and horrid to the world around them at times, most of them seem to be able to dust themselves off fairly quickly and move on to more fun and games without truely absorbing the uglieness that's been doled out to them. They are able to see the joy and wonder in most things quicker than us damned adults and I think that that makes them much more blessed and special. Whether or not there really will be a rapture or heaven or hell, I do not know... but I do feel that if there was a special place for people to go one day, that children would be the 1st to go!~

wow anonymous, way to share the "love of christ".
in all fairness we cannot classify all children as whinny, little shits...most of the time that sort of behavior stems from what kids learn from their parents, or lack of. for the most part children are innocent. up until a certain point they have endless faith in anything and everything. i have a feeling that the innocense/expemption that is being referred to in the bible is that of the younger child; the infant or toddler who doesn't know right from wrong. i think megsta is right in saying "that if all children in this world are given the same amount of love, patience and understanding that we could have ourselves a bit of heaven right here on earth.."

what it all comes down to really is that there are some serious hypocricies that exsist throughout the history of christianity. "christians" have been debating the rapture for years and they cant even figure it out.

But doesn't their endless faith just come from their own ignorance?

What makes a child more or less innocent then an adult? Is it just their inopportunity to be less then innocent?

If they break something do they not blame it on someone else? Did a three year old learn to lie to avoid repercussions from Mom and Dad? Is it just wishful thinking on our part that they are anything less then little imperfect versions of us?

The other problem with the rapture is that is that it uses fear as its main motivation and allows religious wackos to actually cheer for the end of the world as a good thing....dangerous mindset in a day of atomic weapons and countries controlled by fundamentalists

Thanks for the comment anonymous I will see you in hell maybe we can get a drink.

Ignorance?? No, that innocence stems from not knowing that anything other than good exists in the the world. For the most part a majority of all of our learned behaviors are the result of some sort of outside influence. I think that once you have experienced it for yourself and become part of molding a child, you'll better understand it. My kids know the differnce between right and wrong, they can be little shits at times, but they still possess an innocence that only children have...you can hear it in thier laughter and in the way that they ask questions...they have yet to be exposed to all of the negative influences that exist in the world.

"1.) It violates the fundamental tenement of Christianity stating that only those people who believe and accept Jesus are going to be saved."
--------- I have sought out the answer to this question months back and.... it appears that there does exist "text" from the Bible that speaks to this. Basically, those that have never "heard" of Jesus, such as those that lived and died before Jesus existed are automatically given a free pass.

Which raises a question for me, THEN WHY DOESN'T EVERYONE SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT JESUS FOREVER AND WE ALL GO TO HEAVEN!!!!

God, how I abhor religion, such an insult to critical thinking.

anonymous,

How very Christian of you, unless that's sarcasm in which I say, hehehehehe.

megsta,

"... it is only through time and many repeated lessons that they are able to grasp that the world is actually bigger than their own small thoughts, feelings and dreams. "
--- I love that.

"...but I do feel that if there was a special place for people to go one day, that children would be the 1st to go!~ "
--- If you believe that a supreme being, if one exists, will judge humans by their actions, then yes, it is a certainty that children get a free pass into heaven.

Jess,

"Ignorance?? No, that innocence stems from not knowing that anything other than good exists in the world."
--- Jess, sorry I'm not trying to be an ass but that is what ignorance means so you may have meant something else...?

–noun the state or fact of being ignorant; lack of knowledge, learning, information, etc.

People seem to forget that Jesus was not the first God humanity ever worshipped. There have been many, many, many Gods that humans once worshipped. And Jesus will not be the last, I assure you.

Check out how powerful Brittany Spears vagina is !!!

If only people could deal with the fact that we do not know the true answer to human origin.

Oh, how I long for that place....

Dude, a tenement is a run down apartment building. Unless you intended a play on words, you meant tenet (something proclaimed as truth without proof).

Anonymous, grow up. If you insist on posting puerile comments, at least have the onions to do it publicly.
