Challenge on the Field: You decide...
Situation: I am walking down the hall at work. The hall is pretty narrow and a couple of co-workers were standing in the hall talking no big deal.
I said excuse me and and started to walk by. He looked at me and said "yep" in kind of a snotty tone. So I whirled around and said really you are the one who should say excuse me, you are the one blocking the hall.
He said I was the one who should say it because I was interrupting them by walking down the hall. I said I DID SAY IT JACK ASS...
Why do people have such a hard time apologizing?
Who should have said excuse me in that situation..
We have way to much testosterone at work these days...

They should have seen you coming and stepped aside, since they were just standing there and you were actually trying to walk through the hallway.

You were being polite, and they were being rude. What were you supposed to do once you saw them blocking the hallway? Turn around and go the other way?

They should realize that the hall is for walking down and not for socializing.They were being rude.
Next time give them each a pimp slap so they know who's boss. There will be no back talking after that and no need for you to say excuse me again.
They were wrong. You were right. God this one struck a nerve with me. It reminds me of people walking in the skyways downtown. You DON'T get to walk side by side when there are four of you and you end up blocking the whole damn skyway because you're strolling and chit chatting! People are just rude and self centered.
They were definitely in the wrong. There's break rooms or the great outdoors to socialize. You did the polite thing by saying excuse me. They were being pricks. But misery loves company and those who are miserable live to make others the same way. ;)
if you need someone to take care of them let me know - I have an uncle Vinny who's good with those sorts of situations.... haha people like that should be AXED!
I think you saying excuse me was right b/c they were in the way, but you shouldn't have had to say it in the first place b/c A. they should have moved when they saw someone coming B. They should have been working.
I think you showed remarkable restraint in not knocking them on their asses in the first place.
How rude of them! In this case, you did the right thing by saying excuse me, but they shoudl have immediately said "I'm sorry" and stepped aside. Because they should apologize for blocking the way. Man, I can't believe you didn't punch one of them just for fun, lol.
oh you hit a nerve here with me. fucking people. i go through this waaaay too much, but it's normally in grocery stores. another thing i can't stand is when someone is trying to squeeze by. i always, and i mean ALWAYS say (too rob's embarrassment) "oh, i think the word you are looking for is excuse me" But nothing makes me more irritable faster than someone just friggin standing behind me waiting patiently for their opportunity to stealthily sneak by. in this case, i pull out the standard line of "all you have to say is excuse me and i'll move"
I miss you man.... I really do.
