God Bless You Part II

An ingenious adaptation that virus's have developed is the ability to make you sneeze. Pushing themselves into the air where they can possibly inhabit and infect the new hosts around you. You are the metro transit for illness. It uses you as its free ride from one person to the next.

What do we say to the people who bring this sickness into our vicinity?

God Bless You.

People actually want praise dished out to the highest power their imaginations can conjure for a person who brings the likely hood of sickness and death into their vicinity...

It just creeps me out.

I was actually asked why I am so rude for not blessing someone when they sneezed.

It is because..

1.) I don't believe....
2.) I don't think you deserve praise of any kind for bringing sickness into my company. You should actually be apologizing to me..

I am going to start being really rude going forward.

Next sneeze......"Excuse You" or "Your God, Damn You for being such a selfish prick and bringing your infested ass into my presence"

I always say 'excuse you'.

Hell I don't want no germs.

Have you ever sneezed whilst driving? It's a wee bit scary.

Even though I am a believer, I prefer to use the word "Gesundheit" in such situations.

The term Bless you in relation to sneezing comes from history. People once thought that when you sneezed the devil was trying to take your soul and so they would say bless you which basically translated to "Hope you don't die!" as they thought that if they were blessed the devil would be cast out and you'd survive.

I hear people sneeze now and say exactly that instead of bless you...LOL.

When you sneeze, your heart actually stops. I think that's why this phrase has continued. I like to use "whoo hoo! That was a big one!" myself...

I never thought of it that way. But I have to agree. It is kind of strange that we would say that when someone was spreading around their germs!

Start being rude? Aren't you frequently kicked out of places for being rude?

miss you!

I have been an anti- "God Bless" human for a long time.

108, if that is true, i love it. So people are verifying the complete ignorant dogma of religious thinking.

I've dropped the "God" and just say "bless you"...only some people are offended when I put my hand on their forehead and follow up with "get back satan"...

Kyra's right-that's where the God Bless you comes from. It's weird to me though because when we burp or fart WE say excuse me-but when we spew snot through the air we say nothing.

I'm not "trying" to spread germs when I sneeze... I'm just tryin to get off. sheesh. I mean... if I WANTED to spread germs... I'd just lick peoples faces. Think they'd bless me then?

Rocket... you love it... and by IT you mean ME, surely :-)

I think the excuse you is better than the other one. Bless you is just an automatic thing, like someone says thank you, you say your welcome. Or hello, you say hello back. i just don't say anything if i don't like u if i do i'll say bless u
